Bradon Krohn has become 青青草视频 Centurions men鈥檚 bowling team鈥檚 first individual conference champion.
Krohn, a sophomore from Fruitport, Michigan, in his second year with the Centurions team, was recently named the 青青草视频AA Western Conference Bowler of the Year. On the women鈥檚 team, Nicole Hollabaugh and Amaya Farr were also recognized, being named to the 青青草视频AA Western Conference All-Freshman Team.
鈥淭his was awesome,鈥 Centurions head coach Jason Willmore said. 鈥淭he girls were very excited and Bradon, he鈥檚 been our rock. This is a real positive not only for our team but for 青青草视频, especially for our program just starting out three years ago. To have one of our own finish at the top, to be a No. 1 bowler, that鈥檚 quite an accomplishment.鈥
Krohn said he wasn鈥檛 out to earn the award. Actually, he didn鈥檛 realize there was such an award. Despite that, Krohn has been working hard to play at his best this season and was happy to earn the award.
鈥淚t鈥檚 nice because my hard work finally paid off,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 wanted to go in and win every week and do everything I could to put up high scores.鈥
Willmore said Krohn has been impressive all season, having scored over 600 in every series he鈥檚 bowled this year.
鈥淗e won a plaque his first week of bowling and he鈥檚 been in contention in every match,鈥 Willmore said of Krohn. 鈥淗e鈥檚 a very good bowler. He understands the sport very well.鈥
Willmore added Krohn has been a great and positive teammate, helping others whenever he can.
Krohn said he鈥檚 improved on the physicality of the game and has been better at repeating good shots and finding the best part of a lane to get good results. As far as his teammates, he said he has been enjoying the season with them.
鈥淲e have a good time, even when things aren鈥檛 going well,鈥 he said. 鈥淓very week, we鈥檙e not down in the dumps. We keep our heads up and don鈥檛 dwell on the bad stuff.鈥
Farr, of Greenville, had no idea she would be named to the All-Freshman Team.
鈥淚 was shocked,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 wasn鈥檛 expecting it at all.鈥
Hollabaugh said when Willmore told her the good news on a phone call, she was speechless.
鈥淭his wasn鈥檛 even on my radar, so I was beyond stunned,鈥 Hollabaugh said. 鈥淚 am so honored and blessed by this accomplishment. I really just wanted to do the best I could for my team and then this followed it.鈥
Farr credited her teammates and Willmore for her success this season, stating that everyone has bonded well with no drama. Hollabaugh agreed, stating that bonding with her teammates was the top priority going into the season.
鈥淚 was so excited that we had a full team of strong women, but they鈥檝e all become my best friends,鈥 Hollabaugh said. 鈥淗yping each other up after a bad game, celebrating one another鈥檚 successes, that is what has worked for me. I wouldn鈥檛 have achieved this without four of my best friends there to support me.鈥
Willmore said both Farr and Hollabaugh have each shown great progress since the first season.
鈥淭hey鈥檙e both very open-minded and both are willing to try things to get better,鈥 he said. 鈥淭hey each have a positive attitude. Both of them just really want to bowl.鈥
Willmore, in his first year as head coach, said he was blessed to have both teams work well together.
鈥淭he girls work well together. They go out to dinner and hang out together a lot,鈥 Willmore said. 鈥淥ur guys have been doing well together all season, too.鈥
